The football world has been thrown into mourning following the death of former Super Eagles striker Michael Eneramo, with Turkish side Beşiktaş and Tunisian giants Espérance leading a wave of tributes to the ex-Nigeria international.
Eneramo, 40, reportedly passed away on Friday after collapsing during a local football match in Kaduna, with early reports suggesting he suffered a cardiac arrest shortly after the restart of the game.
His sudden death has sparked an emotional response across three countries where he built his legacy — Nigeria, Tunisia, and Turkey.
Beşiktaş, one of the clubs he featured for in the Turkish Super Lig, expressed deep sadness over the passing of their former striker, remembering his professionalism and commitment during his time at the club. Fellow Turkish side Sivasspor also paid tribute, highlighting his dedication and impact while wearing their colours.
In North Africa, Espérance Sportive de Tunis delivered one of the most heartfelt messages, describing Eneramo as one of their “most loyal sons,” underlining the strong bond he built with the club and its supporters during a prolific spell that saw him become a fan favourite.
The Nigeria Football Federation joined in mourning the former international, offering condolences to his family and acknowledging his contribution to the national team. Eneramo earned 10 caps for the Super Eagles and scored three goals after making his debut in 2009.
