Trabzonspor are facing what could become one of the biggest decisions of their summer transfer window as interest from Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli in Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu continues to grow.
The Nigerian international enjoyed a sensational 2025/26 campaign in Turkey, establishing himself as the club’s most reliable attacking outlet and one of the standout performers in the Super Lig. Onuachu finished the season with 26 goals in all competitions, including 22 in the league to emerge as joint top scorer, underlining his importance to the Turkish Cup winners.
His impressive form has inevitably attracted suitors, with Saudi giants Al-Ahli stepping up their interest as they assess alternatives amid uncertainty surrounding the future of Ivan Toney. The Saudi club are believed to be willing to make a lucrative proposal capable of significantly improving the 32-year-old’s earnings.
Reports from Turkey indicate that Trabzonspor have already turned down substantial offers for the towering forward, including bids in the region of €11 million and €20 million, signalling their determination to retain a player who has become central to their ambitions. However, club officials are aware that another improved offer could test their resolve.
Trabzonspor president Ertuğrul Doğan has repeatedly stressed the club’s appreciation of Onuachu’s value, but the financial reality of receiving a major fee for a player in his thirties presents a dilemma for the Turkish side. Selling the Nigerian striker would provide funds to reinforce several areas of the squad ahead of next season, while keeping him would preserve the services of one of the most prolific goalscorers in Turkish football.
Onuachu remains under contract until 2028, putting Trabzonspor in a strong negotiating position as the transfer window unfolds. The former Genk forward has also previously indicated that he is happy in Turkey, adding another layer of intrigue to the situation.
