Slavia Prague coach Jindřich Trpišovský has welcomed Mubarak Suleiman’s first Super Eagles call-up, describing the midfielder’s invitation as fantastic news.
The 19 year old was named among the new players invited by Nigeria coach Eric Chelle as the Super Eagles continue to expand their options ahead of the international fixtures.
Suleiman has enjoyed a rapid rise at Slavia after making his senior debut last season.
The Nigerian midfielder impressed with the club’s youth team in the UEFA Youth League before breaking into the first team. He scored five goals in six appearances in the competition.
His progress continued at senior level this season, with Suleiman starting four of Slavia’s opening five league matches. He scored against Bohemians and also registered an assist against Liberec.
Slavia recently rewarded his progress with a contract extension that will keep him at the Czech club until June 2031.
Trpišovský has been impressed by the teenager’s development and believes the international recognition is deserved.
The coach, however, will also be hoping Suleiman recovers fully from the injury he suffered against Bohemians.
Suleiman recently revealed that he was already feeling much better and expected to return soon. Slavia have been carefully monitoring his condition before deciding when he can resume competitive action.
Chelle has selected Suleiman for Nigeria’s friendly against Russia on October 6, giving the youngster an opportunity to make his senior international debut.
The invitation represents another important step in a career that has developed quickly.
