New Werder Bremen signing Arthur has opened up on the role Victor Boniface played before he completed his move to the Bundesliga club.
The Brazilian full-back joined Werder Bremen on loan from Bayer Leverkusen in search of regular playing time after finding opportunities limited at his parent club. The move was completed on transfer deadline day as Bremen strengthened their squad for the season.
Speaking after the transfer, Arthur revealed that he spoke with Boniface before making the switch. According to the defender, the Nigerian striker encouraged him to take the opportunity and continue his development through regular football.
Arthur described the move as a good chance to grow as a player and gain valuable experience in a new environment. He believes consistent playing time will help him improve and take the next step in his career.
The 23-year-old knows the Bundesliga well after spending the last few seasons at Bayer Leverkusen. However, competition for places made it difficult for him to secure a regular starting role.
Leverkusen also supported the loan move, with club officials stating that regular minutes elsewhere would contribute positively to Arthur’s development.
Boniface is no stranger to Werder Bremen himself. The Super Eagles striker spent time with the club and understands the environment Arthur is stepping into. The Nigerian international is currently on loan from Bayer Leverkusen and remains one of the most recognisable players in the squad.
Arthur will now focus on establishing himself at Bremen and helping the club achieve its goals this season.
With Boniface’s advice in mind and a fresh opportunity ahead of him, the Brazilian defender will be hoping the move proves to be an important step in his career and helps him fulfil his potential in German football.
