Spanish club Granada have completed the signing of highly rated Nigerian striker Chinaza Marvellous Onouha Okonyia following a remarkable campaign that saw the youngster score 34 goals last season.

The Segunda Division side confirmed the arrival of the prolific forward as they continue preparations for the new campaign, securing the services of one of the most exciting young Nigerian attackers currently making waves in youth football.

Okonyia arrives in Spain with a growing reputation as a natural goalscorer. The teenager’s outstanding return of 34 goals during the 2025-26 season attracted attention from several clubs, but Granada moved quickly to secure his signature and add him to their long-term project.

The striker is regarded as a player with significant potential thanks to his finishing ability, movement inside the penalty area and consistency in front of goal. His performances over the past season established him as one of the standout Nigerian prospects in his age group and convinced Granada that he could develop into a valuable first-team asset in the coming years.

Granada have increasingly looked towards emerging young talent as part of their recruitment strategy, and the acquisition of Okonyia fits perfectly into that approach. The club believes the Nigerian forward possesses the qualities required to adapt to Spanish football and continue his development in a competitive environment.

The transfer is another encouraging sign of the Nigeria’s growing influence in European football. Across Spain, several Nigerian players have established themselves at various levels, and Okonyia will be hoping to follow a similar path as he begins the next chapter of his career.

The move also comes at a time when European clubs are paying increasing attention to Nigerian youth talent, with scouts continuing to identify promising players capable of making the transition from academy football to the professional game. Okonyia’s goal-scoring exploits have now earned him that opportunity at one of Spain’s historic clubs.

While immediate first-team involvement may not be guaranteed, Granada view the Nigerian youngster as an investment for the future. The coming months will give him the chance to settle into his new surroundings, adapt to Spanish football and continue the development that has already made him one of the most talked-about young strikers from Nigeria.

With 34 goals already to his name from last season, expectations will be high. However, if his scoring instincts translate successfully to Spain, Granada may have secured one of the bargains of the summer transfer window.
