Turkish champions Galatasaray have stepped up their pursuit of Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, with fresh reports suggesting the Istanbul giants are preparing to reopen negotiations with Club Brugge over a summer transfer.

The Nigerian international has been on Galatasaray’s radar for several transfer windows, but the club are now ready to intensify their efforts as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. The move comes after the Turkish champions identified Onyedika as one of their priority targets following another impressive season in Belgium.

Onyedika has established himself as one of Club Brugge’s most consistent performers since joining the Belgian side, earning praise for his composure on the ball, defensive intelligence and ability to dictate the tempo from midfield. His performances have also made him a regular fixture in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles squad.

According to reports, Galatasaray believe the 25-year-old possesses the qualities needed to strengthen their squad as they prepare to defend their Turkish Super Lig title and compete in the UEFA Champions League next season.

Despite the renewed interest, Club Brugge are not expected to let the midfielder leave without a significant transfer fee. The Belgian club view Onyedika as one of their most valuable assets and are likely to demand a figure close to ₦47 billion before considering any offers.

The prospect of Champions League football could prove attractive to the Nigerian, although no agreement has yet been reached between the two clubs. Galatasaray are reportedly waiting for the player to indicate his willingness to make the move before accelerating formal negotiations.

Onyedika has continued to enhance his reputation since arriving in Belgium, attracting interest from clubs across Europe’s top leagues. However, Galatasaray appear determined to move ahead of their rivals as they seek to secure the midfielder’s signature before the new season gets underway.

Should the deal materialise, the Super Eagles star would become one of Galatasaray’s marquee additions this summer and further strengthen the growing Nigerian presence in Turkish football. For Eric Chelle, a move to one of Turkey’s biggest clubs would also ensure Onyedika continues to compete at the highest level ahead of Nigeria’s upcoming international fixtures.
