Premier League side Everton have emerged as serious contenders for the signature of Super Eagles midfielder Christantus Uche, with the Nigerian attracting growing interest ahead of the summer transfer window.

Uche’s future has become one of the major talking points involving Nigerian players in Europe following an underwhelming loan spell at Crystal Palace. The 23-year-old is expected to return to Spanish side Getafe this summer after failing to secure regular playing time at Selhurst Park.

The former Getafe standout joined Crystal Palace on a season-long loan that included a conditional obligation-to-buy clause. However, the agreement was dependent on the midfielder making a specified number of Premier League starts, a target he failed to reach after struggling for opportunities under Oliver Glasner.

According to reports in Spain and Nigeria, Everton are now monitoring the situation closely as manager David Moyes looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign. The Merseyside club are believed to view Uche as a player capable of adding energy, versatility and physical presence to their midfield options.

Uche first caught the attention of clubs across Europe during a remarkable rise in Spanish football. After moving from Nigeria to Spain in 2022, he progressed through the lower divisions before earning a move to Getafe, where he quickly established himself as one of the club’s most exciting young talents.

Despite his difficult spell in England, the Owerri-born midfielder remains highly regarded. His performances in La Liga before joining Crystal Palace demonstrated his ability to operate in several midfield and attacking roles, a quality that continues to make him an attractive option for clubs seeking squad depth and flexibility.

Everton are not alone in the chase. Other clubs across Europe’s top leagues have also been linked with the Nigerian international, while Getafe are reportedly open to listening to offers if the right proposal arrives this summer. Financial considerations could play a significant role in determining the Spanish club’s final decision.

For Uche, a fresh move could provide the perfect opportunity to reignite his career and strengthen his place in Eric Chelle’s Super Eagles plans ahead of upcoming international assignments. The midfielder remains one of Nigeria’s most promising young exports, and the coming weeks could prove crucial in shaping the next chapter of his rapidly developing career.
