Victor Osimhen’s future has taken another dramatic turn, with Atletico Madrid reportedly emerging ahead of city rivals Real Madrid in the race to sign the Super Eagles striker from Galatasaray this summer. Recent developments suggest Diego Simeone’s side have intensified their pursuit as they look to strengthen their attack ahead of the new season.

The latest twist comes after renowned football intermediary George Gardi, who has been heavily involved in Osimhen’s transfers in recent years, was spotted in Madrid. According to reports from Turkey, Gardi travelled to the Spanish capital for fresh talks over a possible move to Atletico, fuelling speculation that negotiations are gathering pace.

Real Madrid had also been linked with the Nigerian international in recent months, but Atletico are now believed to be leading the chase should they complete the departure of Julian Alvarez. The Spanish giants are determined to reinforce their attacking options, and Osimhen has been identified as one of their priority targets.

Despite the growing transfer speculation, Osimhen has consistently maintained that he is happy at Galatasaray, where he has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers. Since making his permanent move from Napoli, the 27-year-old has continued his impressive goalscoring form, cementing his status as a fan favourite in Istanbul.

Galatasaray, meanwhile, remain determined to keep hold of their prized asset. Reports earlier in the transfer window claimed the Turkish champions rejected a substantial offer from Atletico Madrid, underlining their reluctance to part ways with one of the club’s biggest stars.

Any deal would likely depend on several factors, including Atletico’s ability to generate funds through player sales. Should Alvarez depart, Simeone’s side are expected to step up negotiations for the Nigerian forward.

Osimhen’s immediate focus remains on Galatasaray, but with Atletico Madrid intensifying their interest and Real Madrid still monitoring the situation, the Super Eagles star is once again at the centre of one of the summer’s biggest transfer stories.
