Newcastle United end Hull City’s unbeaten run start in the Premier League on Saturday, beating the newly-promoted side 2-1 at St James’ Park.
Hull arrived on Tyneside unbeaten in the league and sitting third in the table, but Newcastle blew that record away inside ten minutes.
Joe Willock got the hosts moving in the third minute, finishing off a Harvey Barnes assist from just inside the box, and Lewis Hall doubled the lead four minutes later.
Hull hit back through Mohamed-Ali Cho in the second half and summer signing Tim Iroegbunam almost forced a leveller with a close-range volley that flew just wide.
Semi Ajayi started and played the full 90 minutes for Hull, lining up alongside John Egan and Lucas Herrington at the back as Jakirović’s side lined up in a 5-4-1.
It’s been a strong start to the season for the Super Eagles defender, who has started every one of Hull’s league games so far and scored the club’s first Premier League goal since 2017 in their earlier win over Manchester United.
Semi Ajayi played full 90 mins, had three tackles, three interceptions, one block and four clearances.
