Merlin Polzin, Hamburger coach has provided an update on Terem Moffi’s knee problem, with the Nigerian striker facing a race against time to be fit for the club’s Bundesliga return against Hoffenheim on October 10.
Moffi has returned to the training pitch but is yet to resume full team training. According to a report by “Kicker” the 27-year-old completed some light running on Tuesday after missing the previous week’s training sessions.

The coach confirmed that Moffi’s knee had reacted more than expected, prompting the club to continue monitoring his condition.
The knee reacted a bit more than I initially thought. Now we have to wait and see what happens this week,” Polzin told Kicker.
The coach also explained that the club is still working to understand how Moffi’s knee responds to training.
The Super Eagles striker sustained the injury during Hamburg’s 2-1 Bundesliga victory over Cologne on September 19. He started the game but was replaced by Yussuf Poulsen at half-time.

The latest update leaves Moffi’s availability for Hamburg’s trip to Hoffenheim uncertain.
He is already ruled out of Hamburg’s friendly against Copenhagen on October 4 as he continues his rehabilitation.
Since joining the German side, he has only featured in four Bundesliga matches.
Hamburg will continue to assess his response to training before deciding when the Nigerian forward can return to full team activities.
