Head coach Akeem Busari has named a 21-player Flamingos squad for the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco, with Bayelsa Queens forward Harmony Chidi confirmed as captain. The Nigeria Football Federation announced the list on Tuesday and said the team will leave Nigeria for Morocco on Wednesday, 7 October.
Nigeria are in Group B and open their campaign against Poland on 17 October, the first day of the tournament. They then face Puerto Rico on 20 October and North Korea on 23 October, a group that ends against one of the most successful teams in the history of this competition.

Robo Queens supply the backbone of the Flamingos squad
The list is built entirely on home-based talent, and Robo Queens lead the way with five call-ups. Defenders Azeezat Oduntan and Rodiat Yusuf, midfielder Favour Nkwocha and forwards Tosin Rafiu and Oluwakemi Adegbuyi all play for the club. Delta Queens and Nasarawa Amazons have two players each, while Edo Queens, Remo Stars Ladies, Imo Strikers and Bayelsa Queens are also represented.

21 players named
21 players named by head coach Akeem Busari, as announced by the NFF on 6 October 2026.
The squad has three goalkeepers, seven defenders, five midfielders and six forwards. The Flamingos head to Morocco on the back of regional success, having beaten Togo 4-0 in the WAFU-B U17 Girls Cup final last month to win the title with a perfect record.
Can the Flamingos match the 2022 bronze-medal team?
Nigeria won bronze at the 2022 edition in India, and that’s the standard this group will be measured against. The opening game against Poland sets the tone, since a strong start would ease the pressure before the meeting with Puerto Rico three days later.
North Korea are the toughest opponents in the group on history, having won this tournament twice, and Nigeria will want their place in the knockout rounds settled before that final group game on 23 October. With the squad flying out on Wednesday, Busari has just over a week in Morocco to prepare before the Poland game.
