Victor Osimhen’s future is once again dominating transfer headlines, but Galatasaray have moved swiftly to cool speculation linking the Nigerian striker with a sensational switch to Atlético Madrid.
Reports emerging from Spain and Turkey claimed that Diego Simeone’s side had tabled a staggering €120 million proposal for the Super Eagles star, with suggestions that Galatasaray had already rejected the offer as they prepare for another title defence and a renewed UEFA Champions League challenge. However, the Turkish champions insist there is no concrete deal on the table.
Speaking on the rumours, Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk dismissed the reports and revealed that no official approach has been received for the club’s prized asset.
We haven’t received any such proposal. There’s nothing going on right now. Hopefully, he will continue his career at Galatasaray,” the Galatasaray manager said
The statement will come as a major relief to Galatasaray supporters, who see Osimhen as the face of the club’s ambitious project following his record-breaking permanent move from Napoli.
Since arriving in Istanbul, the Nigerian international has elevated his status among Europe’s elite forwards. His combination of explosive pace, physical dominance, relentless work rate and clinical finishing has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in world football.
Osimhen’s numbers underline his importance. The 27-year-old registered 22 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances last season, inspiring Galatasaray to a fourth consecutive Turkish Süper Lig title while also playing a crucial role in the club’s European campaign.
