Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze could be handed a fresh opportunity to revive his AC Milan career, with new manager Ruben Amorim reportedly set to assess the Nigerian during pre-season before making a final decision on his future.

Chukwueze spent the 2025/26 season on loan at Premier League side Fulham, where he enjoyed a productive spell under Marco Silva. The 27-year-old contributed three goals and four assists in 23 league appearances, helping the Cottagers secure another solid campaign in England’s top flight.

His performances at Craven Cottage have sparked interest from Fulham, who are believed to be keen on retaining his services on a permanent basis. However, the London club are reportedly unwilling to activate the €24 million buy option included in the loan agreement and would prefer to negotiate a reduced transfer fee with AC Milan.

According to reports from Italy, Amorim wants to personally evaluate Chukwueze before deciding whether the winger has a role to play in his plans at the San Siro.

The former Sporting CP boss recently took charge of the Rossoneri and is expected to conduct a thorough assessment of his squad ahead of the new season. Players returning from loan spells are likely to receive opportunities to prove themselves as Amorim begins shaping the team in his image.

With Milan expected to operate carefully in the transfer market due to financial considerations, the Portuguese tactician may look to maximise the resources already available within his squad rather than sanction major spending.

That situation could work in Chukwueze’s favour.

The Nigerian international is expected to be among the players closely monitored during pre-season, where he will have the chance to demonstrate his qualities and convince Amorim that he deserves a place in the club’s long-term project.

Having struggled for consistency since arriving from Villarreal in 2023, Chukwueze now faces a crucial period in his Milan career. A strong pre-season could open the door to a fresh start under Amorim, while an underwhelming showing may strengthen Fulham’s hopes of securing a permanent deal.

For now, the former Villarreal star’s future remains uncertain, but the coming weeks could prove decisive as he battles to earn the trust of AC Milan’s new manager.
