Nigerian forward, Kelechi Iheanacho’s remarkable start to life in Turkey shows no sign of slowing down. The Super Eagles forward scored twice away at Batman Petrolspor on Saturday, firing Bursaspor to a 2-1 comeback win and matching a club scoring record that had stood for over a decade.

Batman Petrolspor took the lead in the 29th minute through Matheus Doria, but Bursaspor responded after the break. Iheanacho levelled from the penalty spot on the hour mark before scoring the winner in the 85th minute, completing the turnaround and sending the travelling side back to Bursa with all three points.

The brace took Iheanacho’s tally to 11 goals and two assists in just eight league appearances since joining Bursaspor as a free agent following his title and cup double at Celtic.

More significantly, it means he’s now scored in eight consecutive league matches, equalling a club record set by former striker Fernandao during the 2014/15 season. One more goal in his next outing would see Iheanacho move past that mark and set a new Bursaspor benchmark outright.

Speaking to reporter, Iheanacho reflected on what the win meant to the club:

We are happy we won today. It was a dream victory for us, and most especially for the whole of Bursa watching today. It was a tough game and a very strong game today, but we came out on top to win, so we are really happy to go back to Bursa with a win.”

His recent performance hasn’t  gone unnoticed.  It is interesting  to know that, Iheanacho was part of the players listed by Eric Chelle  for next month’s  friendly  against  Russia.
