Nigerian midfielder John Otomewo has completed a major step in his career after French side Stade de Reims announced his signing on a long-term contract. The 19-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2031.

Rapid rise from Nigerian football

Otomewo started his career with Nigeria National League side Abia Comets before moving to NPFL club Gombe United, where his performances helped establish him as one of the country’s promising young midfielders. His development earned him a move to Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem, where he quickly became a regular in the first team. 

The teenager’s consistent displays in Israel convinced Stade de Reims to make their move, continuing the French club’s tradition of investing in young talents with high potential.

Reims project attracts Nigerian talent

Reims have built a reputation for providing opportunities to emerging players, and Otomewo now joins a growing list of Nigerians who have passed through the club’s system.
