Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has broken his silence on growing transfer speculation linking him with clubs across Europe following an impressive campaign with Udinese.
The Nigerian international enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career in the Italian Serie A, keeping ten clean sheets in 30 league appearances and playing a key role in Udinese’s strong finish in the top half of the table.
Okoye’s reputation has continued to soar after his recent performances for Nigeria in international friendlies against Poland and Portugal. His displays have reportedly attracted interest from clubs in Germany, England, France, and Turkey ahead of the summer transfer window.
Despite the increasing attention, the 26-year-old insists his full focus remains on Udinese, where he is contracted until 2028.
Speaking to Transfermarkt, Okoye expressed his appreciation for the club and the city that has helped him rediscover stability in his career.
“I am really very happy at Udinese and I really appreciates the association, all the employees, the beautiful city that has become my second home, and the people very much.
“Also the peace and routine I found here. Of course, I still have goals in my career, but currently my head is complete at Udinese.
“I enjoy it without thinking too much about the future. In football things can change quickly and if it happens, I know that the club is well positioned and I can still earn him a nice replacement.
“But until then, I’m 100 percent Udinese professional.”
Reports suggest that Okoye’s representatives have received enquiries from several clubs across Europe’s top leagues, including teams in the Bundesliga and Turkish Süper Lig.
However, the former Watford shot-stopper is not allowing the speculation to distract him from his responsibilities on the pitch.
Addressing the transfer rumours, Okoye revealed that he leaves such matters to his management team.
“It is a good push for me as a person to know that you are in demand and that one or the other club is on the list.
“However, I leave this to my advisors, where I am in outstanding hands with Gabriele Giuffrida and Co. That’s their part and I have absolute confidence in their work.”
With the 2026 FIFA World Cup already underway, Okoye’s recent performances for the Super Eagles have strengthened his claim for the number-one shirt ahead of Nigeria’s AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign.
Nigeria have been drawn in Group L alongside Tanzania, Madagascar, and Guinea-Bissau, with qualification matches scheduled to begin in September.
If Okoye maintains his current form at both club and international level, he could not only cement his place as Nigeria’s first-choice goalkeeper but also become one of the most sought-after African goalkeepers in European football.
