The 23-year-old striker joins the Damallsvenskan leaders after spending the second half of last season with Nottingham Forest Women, where she made an immediate impact following her arrival from Danish side Fortuna Hjørring.

Omewa described Häcken as “the right place” for the next stage of her career, with the Swedish club moving quickly to secure her services as they continue their push for domestic and European success.

After starting out in Nigeria with Osun Babes and Confluence Queens, Omewa moved to Denmark, where she developed into one of the most prolific forwards in Scandinavian women’s football. Her time with Fortuna Hjørring proved particularly successful, helping the club win major honours while establishing herself as one of the league’s standout performers.

Her goalscoring exploits earned her a move to Nottingham Forest in January 2026. Despite spending only a few months in England, she scored important goals and quickly attracted attention from clubs outside the country.

BK Häcken are among the strongest clubs in Swedish women’s football and regularly compete in European competitions.

The club recently lost one of its star attackers and identified Omewa as an ideal replacement, believing the Nigerian possesses the qualities needed to strengthen their attack. Her arrival comes with significant expectations as Häcken look to maintain their position at the top of the table.

The move will also see Omewa link up with fellow Nigerian international Halimatu Ayinde, giving her a familiar presence as she settles into life in Sweden.

Positive news for the Super Falcons

Omewa’s transfer is another encouraging development for Nigerian women’s football.

The striker has already broken into the Super Falcons setup and is regarded as one of the country’s emerging attacking talents. Playing regularly for a club competing at a high level in Europe could further boost her development and strengthen her chances of becoming a more prominent figure for Nigeria.

At 23, the forward is entering an important phase of her career. Her move to BK Häcken provides a fresh platform to continue her growth and prove herself in another European league.
