Club Brugge have placed a €10 million price tag on Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika, as talks with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt continue over a possible summer move.
Frankfurt opened negotiations with an offer last week, however, the proposal was turned down by the Belgian champions for falling below their valuation of the 25-year-old. As a result, discussions between both parties remain ongoing as they look to bridge the gap before the transfer window shuts.
According to Belgian outlet Brugge have made repeated attempts to tie Onyedika down to a new deal. The midfielder, meanwhile, has shown little appetite for fresh terms, choosing instead to push for an exit.
Onyedika has now entered the final 12 months of his contract, a situation that leaves Brugge under pressure to cash in this summer rather than risk losing him for nothing next year. The Nigerian international joined the club in 2022 from Danish side FC Midtjylland for a fee in the region of €9 million, and has since grown into a key figure in Nicky Hayen’s midfield.
Notably, Brugge previously rejected a €15 million offer from Wolfsburg for the midfielder last summer, underlining their reluctance to let him go cheaply despite his contract situation.
Onyedika’s proposed move to the Bundesliga would represent a significant step up in profile, following a season in which he was a regular fixture in Nigeria’s midfield during their run to the AFCON 2025 semifinals. A switch to Frankfurt would also place him alongside other Nigerian players plying their trade in one of Europe’s top five leagues, further raising the visibility of Super Eagles talent in Germany.
With Frankfurt already having concluded a separate deal for Bayern Munich’s Noël Aséko, attention will now turn to whether they can meet Brugge’s asking price before the window closes. Should the two clubs fail to reach an agreement, Onyedika may be forced to see out the final year of his contract in Belgium, leaving Brugge exposed to losing him on a free transfer next summer.
