Fulham have officially launched their new away kit for the 2026/27 Premier League season, and Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey is among the first faces to be pictured in it.
The new addidas strip went on sale on Monday, August 3, and it leans heavily on nostalgia rather than a fresh design direction. As a result, Fulham supporters have been given a modern reworking of a shirt many of them grew up watching on the terraces. The new away shirt features a bold red and black checkerboard pattern, a direct nod to the club’s cult favourite change strip from the 1996-97 season.
That original jersey was produced by Le Coq Sportif during Fulham’s spell in the old Division Three, however this new version has been fully modernised by adidas. In addition, the kit brings back the minimalist FFC monogram crest, a badge Fulham last wore between 1972 and 1977 and one closely tied to the club’s run to the 1975 FA Cup final. Red shorts and socks complete the look, rounding off what has already been described as one of Fulham’s most talked about releases in recent years.
Away from the kit reveal, Bassey has been putting in the work to be ready for the season opener. The defender spent part of his pre-season training in Portugal alongside his brother and personal trainer, Elvis Bassey, focusing on fitness, strength and sharpness ahead of Fulham’s return to competitive action.
Furthermore, he featured in Fulham’s pre-season friendly against Farense, where the Cottagers came from behind to win 2-1, with Bassey going close himself from open play. Consequently, Bassey heads into the new campaign in good physical condition, having established himself as a regular starter at Craven Cottage since joining from Ajax in 2023.
Nigerian football followers, Bassey remains one of the country’s most consistent exports in the Premier League. He won Fulham’s Player of the Season award in the 2024/25 campaign, and he has continued to be a first choice centre back for Marco Silva’s side.
Meanwhile, his versatility and composure on the ball have made him a mainstay for the Super Eagles as well, with his club form often mirrored by his performances on international duty. Therefore, Nigerian fans will be watching closely to see whether the new season, and the fresh kit, bring another strong campaign from the defender.
Fulham open their 2026/27 Premier League season away to Chelsea on August 24. Bassey is expected to start at the heart of the defence, having been a near ever present for the club over the past two seasons.
