Nigerian striker Akor Adams has completed a permanent transfer to Venezia from Sevilla, with the Serie A newcomers confirming the deal on Wednesday. The 26 year old has signed a contract that keeps him at the club until June 30, 2030.
According to reports, the transfer is worth around 22 million euros in total with 16 million paid upfront and a further six million tied to performance related bonuses. It marks a significant outlay for Venezia, who returned to Serie A after topping the Serie B table in the 2025/26 season.
Adams leaves Sevilla after an impressive year and a half at the club. He made 37 appearances across all competitions for the LaLiga side, scoring 10 goals and providing four assists, with the majority of that output coming during the 2025/26 campaign.
He had joined Sevilla in January 2025 from Ligue 1 side Montpellier, where he spent two seasons scoring 13 goals and registering five assists in 49 appearances. Before that, he built his reputation in Norway with Lillestrøm and Sogndal, having started his European journey in 2018 after leaving Jamba Football Academy in Nigeria.
In a statement confirming his exit, Sevilla thanked the striker for [his performance and professionalism while wearing the club’s colours. As a result, the Andalusian side now turn their attention to reshaping their squad ahead of the new season, having secured a notable fee for a player who arrived with far less fanfare 18 months ago.
Venezia have been chasing a proven finisher to lead the line following their promotion, and Adams fits that profile closely. Standing at 190cm, he is a physical, right footed centre forward who is comfortable holding up play, contesting aerial duels, and finishing from the penalty spot, where he was flawless last season.
Under head coach Giovanni Stroppa, Venezia enjoyed a strong finish to their promotion campaign, and the club will now be looking to translate that momentum into Serie A survival. Adams is expected to slot straight into the starting eleven once pre-season training resumes, with the club viewing him as the focal point of their attack going forward.
Adams’ move to Italy comes on the back of a breakout period for his international career. It was during his time at Sevilla that he made his Super Eagles debut and quickly established himself as a regular in the squad. He has since earned 15 caps and scored six goals for Nigeria, including a role in the team’s bronze medal finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
His switch to Serie A also strengthens the growing Nigerian presence in Italian football and adds to the list of Super Eagles players plying their trade across Europe’s top five leagues. Consequently, Nigerian fans will now have another player to follow closely in a major European division, with his performances likely to factor into future Super Eagles squad selections.
Adams is set to link up with his new teammates as Venezia continue preparations for the upcoming Serie A season. Meanwhile, attention will turn to how quickly he can adapt to Italian football, having already shown in Spain that he can adjust to a new league and deliver results. If his early performances at Penzo mirror his final months in Seville, Venezia may have found the reliable goal scorer they need to establish themselves in the top flight.
