Speaking on the Global Football Insights Podcast, Oliseh said the two forwards have the quality and influence needed to inspire the national team to success.

“We have two top Nigerian players currently excelling in the Champions League. Osimhen is doing well, and Lookman is also doing exceptionally well,” Oliseh said.

He added that the responsibility now lies on the duo to lead the rest of the team and drive the Super Eagles to silverware.

“All we need now is for these two top players to lead the team and for the others to follow, and you will have it.”

Osimhen has been in strong form for Galatasaray this season, scoring regularly and helping the Turkish side reach the Champions League round of 16.

Lookman has also continued his impressive rise in Europe, recently joining Atletico Madrid and playing a key role in the club’s run to the Copa del Rey final.

Nigeria’s last major international trophy came at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, and Oliseh believes the current generation, led by players like Osimhen and Lookman, has the talent to finally end the long wait for silverware.
