Team captain William Troost-Ekong confirmed the development in a post on X, assuring fans that the financial issues had been settled and the squad was now fully focused on the upcoming matches.
“Issue resolved. Outstanding financials cleared and on ground. Team is united and focused as before on representing Nigeria with our maximum for the games ahead,” Ekong wrote.
This confirmation ends a tense 48-hour period after reports surfaced that players and officials had boycotted training in protest over unpaid bonuses. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has not issued a formal statement, but sources within the camp indicate that payments were processed earlier today, allowing the team to return to the pitch for their evening session.
With the matter now settled, the Super Eagles are shifting their attention back to football as they prepare for their crucial CAF World Cup playoff fixtures in Morocco. The first semifinal sees Nigeria face Gabon on November 13, with a potential final clash against Cameroon or DR Congo scheduled for November 16.
